Bleeding Time (BT) and Clotting Time (CT) are two tests used to evaluate the blood's ability to form clots and stop bleeding. The Clotting Time test, on the other hand, measures the time it takes for blood to clot after it is drawn into a tube. This test evaluates the functioning of clotting factors, which are proteins that help form blood clots. Abnormal results from either test can indicate a bleeding disorder, such as hemophilia or thrombocytopenia. These tests are often used in conjunction with other diagnostic tests to identify the underlying cause of bleeding problems and to monitor the effectiveness of treatment.
