BUN (Blood Urea Nitrogen)
Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) is a medical test that measures the level of urea nitrogen in the blood. Urea nitrogen is a waste product produced by the liver as it breaks down protein. The kidneys are responsible for filtering urea nitrogen out of the blood and excreting it in the urine. The BUN test is used to evaluate kidney function and to diagnose kidney disease or damage.
