Body fluids are liquids that circulate within the body, performing various functions essential for maintaining life. These fluids are categorized into two main groups: intracellular fluid (fluid within cells) and extracellular fluid (fluid outside cells). Examples of body fluids include blood, lymph, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), synovial fluid, pleural fluid, pericardial fluid, amniotic fluid, saliva, sweat and urine. Body fluids play critical roles in maintaining homeostasis, regulating body temperature, and facilitating the exchange of nutrients and waste products.
