Book a Test- Mantoux Test (5 TU) PPD

The Mantoux test, also known as the tuberculin skin test (TST), is a diagnostic tool used to detect tuberculosis (TB) infection. The test involves injecting a small amount of tuberculin, a purified protein derivative (PPD) of the TB bacteria, into the skin of the forearm. The skin reaction is then measured and interpreted 48 to 72 hours later. A positive reaction, indicated by a raised, firm bump or swelling at the injection site, suggests that the individual has been infected with TB bacteria. The size of the reaction determines the likelihood of TB infection. The test is commonly used to screen individuals who have been exposed to TB, such as healthcare workers, and to diagnose TB infection in individuals with symptoms. However, a positive result does not necessarily mean that the individual has active TB disease, and further testing may be required to confirm the diagnosis.
